In order for SPS School Counselors to provide a comprehensive School Counseling program that is founded in Compassion, Dedication, Knowledge, and Inspiration, a wide assortment of engaging, thoughtful, purposeful, powerful, connective, and educational services, activities, events, lessons, and practices must be offered in collaboration with students, educators, families, and the school community.

National School Counseling Week 2024 will be celebrated February 5 to February 9, 2024.
The theme is School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused to focus public attention on the unique contributions of School Counselors within all school systems.
In November and December 2023, students at
two Springfield elementary schools
learned about logos (definition, purpose, composition)
and practiced creating logos to be featured on our School Counselors website,
as the School Counselors themselves were working on a new School Counseling logo.

In October 2023, Springfield Public Schools students and educators in
grades Pre-K to 12 celebrated College and Career Awareness
by reflecting on self-interests and strengths,
and learning about college and career pathways to match those talents.
Students in one elementary school identified personal and professional skills and goals,
and wrote and drew their own resume and college application.
In August and September 2023, more than 140 School Counselors, Dean of Students, and Graduation Coaches participated in Professional Development
to plan and prepare programming for the 2023-2024 school year.
The trainings were full of serious thinking and discussion, and a whole lot of fun.
